The lowdown from Goodreads

Katie Brenner has the perfect life: a flat in London, a glamorous job, and a super-cool Instagram feed.

Ok, so the real truth is that she rents a tiny room with no space for a wardrobe, has a hideous commute to a lowly admin job, and the life she shares on Instagram isn’t really hers.

But one day her dreams are bound to come true, aren’t they?

Until her not-so perfect life comes crashing down when her mega-successful boss Demeter gives her the sack. All Katie’s hopes are shattered. She has to move home to Somerset, where she helps her dad with his new glamping business.

Then Demeter and her family book in for a holiday, and Katie sees her chance. But should she get revenge on the woman who ruined her dreams? Or try to get her job back? Does Demeter – the woman with everything – have such an idyllic life herself? Maybe they have more in common than it seems.

And what’s wrong with not-so-perfect, anyway?

Reading this book reminded me of my love for Sophie Kinsella. She has a knack for telling these seemingly outrageous tales with these beautifully flawed & fun characters hilariously navigating through life. The book delivered what I expect from Sophie, laughs, heart & a smile at the end.

Katie is a country girl who moved to London to live the life she wanted, despite the continuous guilt trip from her father. She goes by Cat in the city & tries to impress her co-workers & boss by putting on a front that she is a sophisticated woman living it up in the city. She falls quickly for Alex, who it turns out is a higher level boss at her firm. Her flatmates are nightmarish and she’s got a hammock in her room, despite what her Instagram feed shows.

Her dream comes crashing down when she’s let go from her job by her boss, Demeter. She’s left jobless in the city, so when her dad & stepmom call & need help getting their “glamping” business started in the country, she goes back home. She’s able to put her skill set to use & the business is off to a great start when Demeter shows up out of nowhere & doesn’t recognize Katie or “Cat” as she is known to her co-workers. To complicate matters, Alex shows up & quickly recognizes Katie as “Cat”.

Should Katie get even with Demeter, should she try to find her way back to her dream in the city or should she just stay put in the country? What about Alex & why did he show up in the country the same time as Demeter? This is where Sophie does her magic of weaving together a fun, wild & entangled ending. It’s fun, heartwarming & made me smile & laugh.

This book releases February 7,2017 & fans of Sophie’s will not be disappointed. She’s still got it.

Special thanks to Sophie Kinsella, Random House & NetGalley for providing my copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.
